What is PABSS?

The Protection & Advocacy for Beneficiaries of Social Security (PABSS) Program protects the legal rights of social security beneficiaries in their efforts to return to work.

Who is eligible for PABSS services?

You are eligible for PABSS services if:

ü    You have a disability and receive SSI or SSDI; AND

ü    You need information about how work or returning to work will affect your benefits; OR

ü    You need assistance with rehabilitation services, accommodations or other return-to-work issues.

What services does the California PABSS Program provide?

If you are eligible for assistance, the PABSS Program can:

ü    Provide information about the programs, services & supports available to help you return to work.

ü    Provide you with technical assistance if you encounter problems in obtaining the support & services you need to return to work.

ü    Make referrals to other professionals or agencies when appropriate.

Training & Outreach

The PABSS program is available to conduct training on the employment rights of Social Security beneficiaries.

Training can be scheduled through a Protection & Advocacy Outreach Coordinator.

Training will provide an overview of Social Security’s current work incentives and employment rights.
