Pro bono attorneys, donations help PAI serve more peoplePro bono publico — for the good of the public — describes the work of attorneys who join in cases with PAI and do not charge for their services. The time and effort donated by private law firms allow PAI to serve more people with disabilities. Without pro bono help, many would not have access to legal services. Buckmaster Dewolf and Lisa Buccino, of Howrey, Simon, Arnold and White in Menlo Park, and Andrew Thomas Sinclair of Oakland, are co-counsel with PAI in Davis v. California Health and Human Services. Jay Fowler, Michael Pyle and Amy Talburt, of Bingham McCutcheon LLP; Amanda Wilson, of the Law Offices of Sharon Kinsey; and Robert Myers, of Newman, Aaronsen & Vanaman, are co-counsel on Capitol People First v. Department of Developmental Services. Cory J. Briggs, of Briggs Law Corporation, worked on the Maryland Hotel case with PAI’s San Diego office. Ron Peterson and Cary Hall, of Heller Ehrman, are co-counsel with PAI on the Katie A. v. Bontáclass action. D. Scott Chang, Law Offices of D. Scott Chang, is lead counsel in the case of Foster v. Richmond Housing Authority. Commercial organizations also donate their time, materials and expertise. The Los Angeles Times recently donated $1,200 toward PAI’s all-staff training. The contribution will help develop training materials that will enhance staff’s ability to carry out PAI’s mission. PAI greatly appreciates the generosity of all of these organizations. |
