INTERN (Volunteer/Unpaid) NEEDED for the
Legislation and Public Information Unit
Protection & Advocacy, Inc. advocates for the rights of Californians with disabilities through a variety of methods, including legislative and budget advocacy. PAI sponsors bills, takes positions on bills and budget proposals working with legislators and their staff, as well as other advocacy organizations. PAI is currently seeking an intern to assist with the following duties including, but not limited to:
- Assisting PAI lobbyists with tasks related to sponsored/tracked legislation (as time permits)
- Screening & distributing Regulations and newly introduced bills;
- Follow up with workgroups if analysis not provided in timely fashion;
- Drafting correspondence to legislators, committees & Board of Directors;
- Sending correspondence to legislators & committees;
- Maintain committee and legislative contact info lists and fax numbers;
- Run legislative database searches and reports;
- Assist with planning and logistics for Respectability Conference and Capitol Action day;
- Attend weekly advocate meetings;
- Light administrative tasks as required.
